How it works
The principal physiological action in insects (lice) exposed to permethrin is induction of electrochemical abnormalities across the membranes of excitable cells, leading to sensory hyperexcitability, inco-ordination and prostration. It is assumed that the mode of action against arachnids (mites) is similar.
Dosage
Adults & Children : Scabies : Apply once to whole body excluding head and face. Ensure that the skin is clean , dry and cool prior to treatment . Wash out after 8-24hr. A sec application may be given if necessary. Crab lice : Apply once weekly for 2 doses, apply 5% cream over whole body, allow to dry naturally and wash off after 12 hrs or after leaving on overnight. OR As directed by your physician.
Side Effects
Itching (pruritus), reddening of the skin or unusual sensations on the skin (paraesthesias) such as tingling, pricking, skin burning sensation as well as dry skin are common , skin lesions (excoriations), inflammation of the hair follicles (folliculitis) and reduced skin pigmentation .

Do not use If you are allergic to Permethrin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine .

Precaution
Avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes (inside the nose or throat, genital region) or open wounds.
Warning 1
It may worsen symptoms of asthma or eczema.
Warning 2
Carers who apply permethrin are advised to wear gloves.
